Mjay's Media Compressor ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Media Files: When you select photos or videos for compression, we temporarily access these files locally on your device. We do NOT upload your media files to any server.
• Folder Paths: We store folder paths you select to remember your preferred compression sources.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

Location Data (GPS Coordinates)

• When: Only when you use the GPS Sorting feature
• What: GPS coordinates from your photos' metadata (EXIF data)
• Why: To organize photos by location (city, country)
• Where: Sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim API (https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org) for reverse geocoding
• How: Cached locally to minimize requests. Only unique coordinates are queried. Rate-limited to respect Nominatim's Fair Use Policy (max 1 request/second). Requests are only made when you run GPS Sorting.
• IP Address: Your device's IP address is transmitted to Nominatim servers due to technical requirements. This IP address may be logged by OpenStreetMap Foundation.
• Third Party: OpenStreetMap Foundation (see their privacy policy)
• Opt-Out: Don't use the GPS Sorting feature

Usage Data (Local Only)

• Compression job history (file names, dates, sizes)
• App settings and preferences
• Statistics (files compressed, space saved)

Storage: All stored locally in your device's internal storage. NOT sent to any server.

• Compression: Process your media files locally on your device
• Organization: Remember your folder selections and settings
• Statistics: Show you how much space you've saved
• GPS Sorting: Organize photos by location (only if you use this feature)

5. Data Retention

• Compression History: Stored indefinitely on your device until you delete it
• GPS Data: Stored locally until you delete jobs
• Settings: Stored until you uninstall the app

Delete Your Data: Go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete All Data

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have these rights:

• Access: View what data we have about you (Settings → Export Data)
• Deletion: Delete all your data (Settings → Delete All Data)
• Correction: Edit your settings anytime
• Portability: Export your data as JSON (Settings → Export Data)
• Objection: Stop GPS data collection (don't use GPS Sorting)
• Withdraw Consent: Uninstall the app

7. Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

8. Security

We implement security measures to protect your data:

• All data stored in your device's internal app storage. Device/OS security features may provide additional protection.
• HTTPS for all network requests (OpenStreetMap API)
• No cloud storage of your media files
• No transmission of your photos/videos to external servers

However, no method is 100% secure. Use at your own risk.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you by:

• Updating the "Last updated" date above
• Showing an in-app notification

Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the new policy.
